Anyone know if the bot on /b/ that sages any thread started with a 250x250 picture with "Fuck off." is built into the board or is just some idiot running a script?

Name: Anonymous 2009-03-14 20:18

Why the hell would that be built into the board?

Right, like THAT would be the stupidest thing moot ever did.

Removing FORCED_ANON in /b/ wasn't exactly a good idea. At least I don't think it was a good idea, but it is his site; he can do whatever the hell he wants. Then again, I hardly visit /b/ much these days so I really don't care either way.

Appearing over and over in mainstream media, and getting so much extra traffic here that /b/ and /r9k/ crash pretty much every weekend.

Not funny.
>>6
Sometimes using a tripcode is beneficial to a thread to prove you'r the OP?
>>7
What's wrong with more traffic? I would hardly say any board crash every  weekend, maybe once a month but is that really that bad?

/b/ has been down for extended periods of time at least three times in the last month or so, and IIRC, they were all on weekends.

Also, more traffic means posts fall off page 1 so fast that you're forced to samefag your own threads two or three times before they "catch".

Why are you telling me this, shouldn't you be bringing it to moot?

Name: Anonymous 2009-03-16 16:18

Sometimes, yes. Unfortunately it has brought people to impersonating moot by using a fake administrator capcode. Which is easily detected by using the Yotsuba B or Burichan theme. However, the board defaults to Yotsuba, which is why it causes a problem.

So yes, it has its share of benefits along side its problems.

If moot were to post on the textboards it would look like this anyway. (http://dis.4chan.org/read/img/1174574294/19)

Now I'm confused. I've seen a real moot post before, which I think has a different color than green, but this >>13 guy has been imitating moot for at least a couple of months now, without getting banned, and sites are beginning to list him as the real moot. Has moot dropped the unique color in his posts?

What's so confusing? Did you look at the link posted in >>15?

but this >>13 guy has been imitating moot for at least a couple of months now, without getting banned,

I can't say for this individual, but there have been those who (and failed miserably) have tried to impersonate moot and been banned for it.[1]

and sites are beginning to list him as the real moot.

You got any links to such sites?

Has moot dropped the unique color in his posts?

I'm assuming by "unique color" you mean his pseudonym appearing as red such as the link posted in >>15. Why the hell would he drop this if making an official post on the textboards?

(Forgot to post the link to a thread in /lounge/ where someone had been publicly banned for impersonating moot)

>>15 was posted while I googled the tripcode.

The link you posted seems to be of someone (op) just asking where moot was and complaining about how 4chan had apparently changed (which you're apparently not allowed to do).

I have personally seen someone (perhaps even this guy?) get banned for impersonating moot though, but then users got upset about the ban because people had gotten away with impersonating moot before.
If it's still a bannable offence to impersonate moot, it makes it even more strange because trip-moot has been around long enough for me to actually start recognizing his trip (and I have a very poor memory).

Just google trip-moots trip and you'll find sites, although I think I recall one of them being EncyclopediaDramatica, so...

Well, yes. moot's tripcode has been common knowledge for a long time. As far as I know, impersonating the administrator and staff was always a bannable offense. (There was an auto-ban if you posted with the tripcode along side moot's name on the imageboards but I have no idea if this is still in effect.) Even though it may not have been implied in an official manner before, it most definitely is the case now if you refer to global rule #11 on the rules page[1]

As for people getting away with impersonating moot, unfortunately there are some who slip through the cracks. I'm not going to criticize the moderation done here on 4chan, so I'll leave it at that.

Without the Dutch, the term would still be Africans.
