off-site board resources

Name: Anonymous 2009-03-14 17:32

Which board has the best off-site resources? I'd have to say /tg/, but I don't use the other boards besides /b/ and /g/, so I can't say for sure. Post your boards' resources for comparison and just plain show and tell.

/b/ has ED, and the most threads archived at 4chanarchive

/tg/ has a wiki, http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Main_Page, and their own community page at http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/, with, among other things, an archiver.

/g/ occasionally sets up a private ftp, uses WASTE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WASTE) for private p2p and chat.

/a/, /jp/ have auto-archivers at http://archive.easymodo.net/

/hr, /t/ have auto-achivers at http://no-info.no-ip.info:6224/board.pl

Thanks for the links, awesome.

general: http://www.4chanarchive.org

/a/ - they get their anime torrents through http://www.tokyotosho.com

also, danbooru, gelbooru and other imagedump websites are useful for images.

http://chan4chan.gagspace.com/ - For just browsing archived and incoming images that are posted. Basically an image only indexer of 4chan.

http://www.macrochan.org/ - A huge archive of 4chan images.

http://aachan.sageru.org/ - Archive of Shift_JIS art. Great for the textboards here, especially if you hang out in /sjis/. (Shift_JIS art posted on the imageboards looks like hell)

I'm sure there's a whole lot more, but those are the ones I check often.

http://chan4chan.gagspace.com/ - For just browsing archived and incoming images that are posted. Basically an image only indexer of 4chan.

Addendum:

You can post comments on images in the archive section. Lurking further on the site, it seems to only have images from /b/.

http://www.fybertech.com/ - Is a great off-site resource for 4chan. The guy(s) that run it know what he is/they're doing and it seems pretty solid.

http://www.fybertech.com/4get/ - Similar to chan4chan, it's a random catalog of images.

http://www.fybertech.com/4thread/ - archive of various threads from different boards. Not unlike 4chanarchive.

http://fychan.fybertech.com/ - Not really an off-site resource, however deserving of a plug nonetheless. This is a UserJS 4chan "extension" for Opera. Works very similar to the official one for Firefox and if you use Opera as your primary browser I recommend it.

Those are the other links that I know of. If you know of any more, post 'em!

/g/ has a god tier ftp server set up but fuck telling anyone, it'll get raped

just tell us... you can put it in your email-field, nobody will look there

I'd ask for it myself, but I know how when lots of people get a hold of something--especially a nice ftp server, it'll just turn to shit. I'd like to say I wouldn't tell anyone else (which I really would not) but you can't trust strangers over the Internet, not even me.

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-22 22:39

/g/ used to have wiki that answered all the shitty questions people made.

It was dispensed with when they learned that the only real solution to any problem is to install gentoo. As more idiots are pouring in this has expanded to the also popular advice to install Ubuntu. 100% success rate for all problems. New version of Ubuntu out today too, Jaunty Jackalope. I saw a post on slashdot that said that the last really stable version was Dapper Drake, so it seems if it has a gay name it will be OK. Should be a good distro

http://suigintou.desudesudesu.org/4scrape/index - Grabs wallpaper images from 4chan's /w/ and /wg/ boards.

/g/ has a weird Plan 9 setup, with Venti stuff.  Perhaps a bit obscure?

The /g/ ftp servers are unrelentingly shit.  EIther they're set up completely open, so anyoone can delete stuff, and people do delete everything.

Then what other project is /g/ working on with a "weird Plan 9 setup with Venti stuff", besides http://www.9gridchan.org/ ? IHBT

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-29 11:30

It's not a project, it's an ftp server full of stuff. I said this earlier.

Well, if there are any other off-site resource, be sure to post them.

http://www.lulzlunch.com/index.py - Is a site linked from chan4chan. It works similar to chan4chan. Nice very minimal straightforward interface.

Wow, I thought this thread died, then I get linked to it :D.

The easymodo archiver now archives /ck/, /m/, /sp/, /t/, as well as /a/ and /jp/.

userscripts.org/userstyles.org have lots of 4chan scripts/CSS styles, respectively.

irc.rizon.net seems to be the server most boards use for chatting:
/g/ - #/g/tv, #/g/tech, #desktopthread
/tg/ - #rubyquest
/k/ - #/k/

tgchan.org is a /tg/ offshoot
operatorchan.org is a /k/ offshoot

Threads on the textboards don't ``die''. Or ``404''. You must be new to these boards.

I can't believe nobody mentioned plus4chan yet. It's a slower-moving *chan, somewhere between a *chan and a more organized board, because topics don't get deleted that often and stick around for a long time.

http://plus4chan.org/

Probably the most pertinent to /co/, and maybe /a/ a little bit. Also, they have news-style /n/ and a radio.

Also, while ED is more focused on /b/ (although they have started doing a series of articles on the other boards), Lurkmore wiki has a bunch of older content, if you want to relive the glory days of Duck redirecting to Loli, and have an interest in very consice explanations of small-time and old memes from various boards. http://www.lurkmore.com/wiki/Memes

By `die' I meant `fade into obscurity without significant contributions'.

/tg/ also has a booru at
http://grognard.booru.org/
which currently has just over 20000 images that are tagged and shit, good if you're looking for specific tg related images...
