I keep getting the same "Error: Abnormal Reply" message as well.

i get this error as well, not to sure why
it's on multiple boards

this crap has been going on for months. for replies, you need to reclick your way into the board and try again. for new threads, you need to wait a few minutes and try again, repeat as necessary.

Okay, I've fixed my Abnormal Reply shit, but now I've lost all my Internet history and cookies so I can't Report anything, delete anything and I can't upload files. What now?

I am having the problem of "Detected javascript + cookies + blocked referrer. Your post looks like spam this way, so either enable referrers or disable javascript and cookies."
I have to disable Javascript and cookies, but this makes me lose my in-post reply functionality. I need to manually type in the >>(number) part.
This happens on multiple boards.
I got a plugin that makes sure I refer for the boards, but it still goes "HOOFADOOF"

Yeah, I get the "Detected javascript + cookies + blocked referrer. Your post looks like spam this way, so either enable referrers or disable javascript and cookies." message too. I'm getting fucking pissed.

Also, for a laugh, look at the FAQ page.
"Why doesn't "x" work properly?
Here are four common solutions to problems users might experience:
1. Enable first & third party cookies.
2. Enable JavaScript.
3. Don't block HTTP referals.
4. Whitelist 4chan.org and all of its subdomains."
So, numbers 1 and 2 are being undone for us to work on 4chan?

This is a common problem experienced by many users, there is a simple fix to this problem. Go to My Computer, and delete System32.

Anonymous2008-04-22 15:48
Just set 4chan on block list and it works pretty well.

Anonymous2008-04-22 21:28
I'VE FIXED THE FOURTH CHAN.
Do this:
in Firefox, type "about:config" without the quotes in the address bar.
Now, search for the word "referer", again without quotes.
One should come up, "network.http.sendRefererHeader"
Set the value of this to 1 if it isn't already.

when will they fix this!?
Honestly, I've not recently done anything to my computer that would have changed things on my end and I used to be able to post just fine.
Firefox > Install RefControl Extension > 4chan.org SITE > Forge

Outpost Security Suite was what was blocking it for me. I just disabled it's ability to block ads, since AdBlock for Firefox does that for me.

i'm getting that fucking "Your post looks like spam this way, so either enable referrers or disable javascript and cookies." error too! I tried resetting the referer shit but that didn't do anything. I have to use IE to post/open up pictures which is fucking annoying.

I'm a lurker. but dammit if I need to reply sometimes. tried everything above. nothing works. disabled java, set the referrer value to 1, cookies, white listed...nothing. I'm not using explorer I refuse. I'm so disappointed in Firefox. I leave for a few months and this is what I get. can I just blame it on vista?

don't be such a douche, you know that's a legit solution. Jealous?

If the original poster who started this thread is reading this, or new users who aren't aware of the System32 directory under Windows, don't follow ANY advice on here telling you to remove this important directory (or "folder" as it's called nowadays) from your installation of Windows.
It contains VERY IMPORTANT operating system files to help make Windows function correctly. To confirm, note that EVERY modern version of Windows contains this folder.
Ok everytime i go to upload something on 4chan it comes up with error upload failed - THERES ONLY SO MUCH FAILED I CAN TAKE- argh I've tried all the resizing crap and file type , and that is the extent of my knowledge.......

How big is the image file in question? Also, what's the dimensions for pixels? For example, file extension .jpg would be a JPEG file, 63 KB (Kilobytes) would be it's file size and 640x692 would be its dimensions. (i.e. height and width)
Didn't work. "Detected javascript + cookies + blocked referrer. Your post looks like spam this way, so either enable referrers or disable javascript and cookies" still comes up.

This statement contradicts itself.
Detected JavaScript + cookies + blocked referer. Your post looks like spam this way, so either enable referers or disable JavaScript and cookies
i hate u!!!! i tried everything!!!! i have followed all suggestions including buying a new computer, moving to a different state, deleting system32 (numerous times) and divorcing my wife as suggested by the honorable users of 4chan but nothing works!!! what should i do /b/
Yeah, like David Letterman's kind of "power" yuk yuk yuk

Try removing any references to 4chan in your hosts files. See if that helps.
"Error: Upload failed" ... even when I AM NOT attempting to upload a file.
ugh, i am NOT using IE to post on this shit. I refuse.

>>51-54 I've got the same problem. Doesn't work in google chrome (latest dev build) or in IE8. What browser are you using?
See >>50 try that first, then try uploading again.
What?
Each board has set limits on the file size and dimension size. If the image you're trying to upload fails, it may be because you're trying to upload a file that exceeds those limits. It's quite self explanatory. And the information on that is posted underneath the area where you leave a comment and upload pictures.
For example, on /po/ it says "Maximum file size allowed is 8192 KB." That means if you try to upload an image that is greater than 8192 KB, it will fail to upload.

Make sure your image is the right dimensions. If it's smaller than the minimum then the upload will fail. Even if it's the correct width and not height

GAY men can at last be depicted in Malaysian films - so long as they repent or even go straight in the end.
Strict censorship rules in the mostly Muslim country mean books and films are routinely banned or scenes deleted that are deemed detrimental to moral values or religious sensitivities.
The new censorship guidelines reverse a ban on scenes featuring homosexuality, Malaysian Film Producers' Association president Ahmad Puad Onah said. But there's a catch.
"We are now allowed to show these scenes," he told AFP. "As long as we portray good triumphing over evil and there is a lesson learnt in the film, such as from a gay (character) who turns into a (straight) man.
"Previously we are not allowed to show these at all."
The new rules, he insists, will allow greater freedom of expression for film-makers. But kissing, undressing and obscenity scenes will still be banned.
"We can do almost anything now but we are urged to give due considerations on the film's impact on certain areas like public order, religion, socio-culture elements and moral values."
It is not just homosexuality - subjects such as illegal racing can also be depicted.
A report at the weekend said local movie V3 Road Gangster was being shown in the cinemas since the illegal racers either died or were caught by police at the end.
Another movie that has recently passed Malaysian censors was a film that featured the life of a transvestite. It will be screened in May.
The Film Censorship Board could not be reached for comment.

***FIXED***
Use the about:config change "network.http.sendRefererHeader" to 1
If it resets back to 0 after a refresh like it did on mine it is because of an extension. For me this extension was illimitux which I don't need anymore (as it doesn't really work anymore). I uninstalled this and it worked fine after the about:config fix

RefControl (>>19) actually worked
Even without disabling illimitux (had same problem and not too long before it started I added that goddamn extension too, seems like it really is te culprit) but I disabled it anyway.
it's been over a month since this thread was updated, but i wanted to help with the java/cookies/referrer error when posting to 4chan.
this error can be caused by installed anti-virus software, internet security software, firewall software, or third-party browser extensions. the answer is NOT to block cookies/java because that's dumb. what you want to do is enable HTTP referrers for 4chan.org.
i solved this by going into the advanced area of my anti-virus software (VIPRE). in the active protection --> web filtering section, there's an option that says "When a Web site directs me to another Web site, do not include the first Web site's address." this was the problem. i still left the option enabled, but added 4chan.org to my web filtering whitelist. i'm now able to reply to threads.
on Firefox gooo Tools>Options>Privacy>Firefox will:Use custom settings for privacy>Show cookies>delete (use Delete button :o) anything you see related to 4chan.
still can't post images.
text only replies are good.
using Google chrome. no plugins.
