Why do the majority of the users here use it instead of far better alternatives like megaupload? Especially with happy hour going on, I don't see why people still use rapidshare.

Because rapidshare doesn't require installing their spyware toolbar after reaching some mysterious "country limit". The limit is visible and you know it. Also, RS is faster and their interface just looks cleaner. Cats... well, get glasses or a new monitor, if you can't handle them - I'd rather spend 10 more seconds writing the captcha than waiting for a day for the next upload.
tl;dr: When choosing between RS and MU, RS is the better option.
