I read somewhere that one should give back to the 4chan-community by contributing. I've been looking here for about 2 weeks, and I've gathered a bunch of things. I also happen to have this movie-making hobby, along with philosophy and cool images. So, I made a little movie about some of the images I've found here on 4chan...
I wish I could watch it. Maybe someone could turn this into a torrent? I'm on dialup and Rapidshare likes to kick me off after the first 12-15MB. This file is about 63 MB, and it's in a .rar archive so even if I download part of it, it won't work.
I hope I get a chance to enjoy it. Maybe I can talk my boyfriend into downloading it...

Well, if I make the file into .mwv-format it's too low of a quality to be viewable... I've uploaded it to Megaupload, here's a link:
It worked after the third time I tried to download it from Megaupload. The first time it ran for 3 hours, and then decided to disconnect when only an hour was remaining, the second time only 30 minutes were left, and the third time it downloaded successfully.
I'm not really sure that you're understanding what I mean by archive files being problematic when partially downloaded. These files will not open unless fully downloaded. Since these sites are ones that do not allow for starting where you left off on a download unless you subscribe, they are not a good place for sharing larger files, which is also one reason for the file size limit.
After downloading this movie, I really don't understand why the .mpeg needs to be over 100 MB. What program or programs were you using?

Ulead videostudio, that's the only one. I don't really have any other programs to do it in, except Movie Maker I guess, but it lacks some functions I like in Ulead. And I agree, I really don't know why it has to be 100mb, seeing as it's just images with some text and sound on top... I don't know the mechanics of movies, I just make some of them, and I won't claim to be an expert in any way =P

Wow. That's actually a program I haven't heard of before. After you make the movie, it might be a good idea to find a program that will take the file and compress it. Then you could archive it. I'll have to look up Ulead Videostudio then, but I might not be able to get back to this thread right away, because I promised my boyfriend that I would go and see him starting Thursday and stay for a day or two. So I won't really get to look into this as much as I'd like to right away, but I'll get around to it.

I can see at my Rapidshare account that there's loads of people that have downloaded the movie... Nobody want to comment on it? =P
I think they were expecting, as I was, that it would be a selection of images from 4chan, most likely hilarious ones.
I think Enya catches most people off guard here, at least when it isn't something that relates to horsecock or the like.

Well, it is a selection of images from 4chan, albeit a small one. And I kind of hoped that there would be some people, even here, that appreciate something a bit more "serious". Guess not =P
For example, on /po/ I'm helping with translations of Origami for the Connoisseur in Spanish. I'm also working on a papercraft, and trying to draw out a lot of the SJIS characters from 2ch. It gives me something to do while I'm out of school.
For entertainment, I'll flame people on the SJIS board, or go to /b/.

I have a set of two movies, really the same movie, but with different parts of the song playing, on rapidshare right now. I think the main problem with the beauty.avi is that it looks like it was exported from your program of choice without compressing it into a smaller file type. For example, with the movie editor I use, iMovie, there are different types of compression that can be applied, from high compression to low compression.
When I use "Full DV Quality" in iMovie, I can get file sizes like yours for beauty. There are one or two web streaming compressions that I never use. There's a CD-ROM compression, which is what these two movies were compressed in, because it has the nicest quality of the high compression options. There's also email and web compressions, which have about half the file size of the CD-ROM, but so much quality is lost that it's not of much use unless your main concern is small file sizes.
The rapidshare file is a little over 2MB for those interested. I was using the digital camera to film a movie, and this one just seemed to work well in iMovie, so I used it. The song is VOICES by Yoko Kanno.

It looks like with Ulead VideoStudio, you will have to have the Divx codec installed. There's a K-lite codec pack online that offers basically every codec you will probably ever need to play back and compress movies. I think the actual site for the codec pack asks for payment, but it's also online for free.
In the meantime, you can just go to divx.com and download their newest divx codec and use that with VideoStudio. If that's how you got the .avi file down to 100MB, then you will have to use Windows Movie Maker in the future for the files you want to upload online, because VideoStudio seems to be oriented towards creating DVD's, not online movies. If VideoStudio has a file type that you can import to Windows Movie Maker, then I'd suggest doing that and then using Windows Movie Maker to make the file smaller, at least for web uploads.
It looks like Videostudio is made to work with digital media that records motion video. Most of the things they're advertising on the website are common problems with hand held devices.
