Would you read a book of organized messageboard discussions? I've seen some good debates on science, religion, technology, politics, economy, government, etc. Presenting these ideas and preserving them might be worthwhile.
If such books were available, then what's the point of amatuer nonfiction opinion books? A bit one sided if you could be reading a debate instead. An intelligent one, anyway.

Why buy a book when everybody can read the threads or the archives themselves online?

Because most messageboards don't archive well once they're dead (php, etc).

Ive got a megs and megs of .htm files of messageboard discussions.
Most are funny, witty posts from various boards from imdb (god, people can be so stupid and anal), gamefaqs (god, people can be so stupid), yahoo boards (god people ARE stupid), etc.
Ive got alot of fighting game discussions from shoryuken, fierceslash, soulcalibur, tekzaibatsu etc.
I come across the occasional science, tech, gov, mil etc from kuro5hin worthy of saving.

hay does anyone have a free pass to the 2channel archives?
I really don't think many people would buy a book at all. Why would people buy a book full of morons talking abount somthing they no nothing about? Nobody on image boards does anything but invent half witty cliched acoyonyms to whore out for the next 2 monthes anyway. Harbl! Go buy a real book on these subjects insted of dick faced image boarders who think they have a valid opinion on topics they will never grasp. Just keep taking about how much you hate Bush and conservatism and hope nobody comes and actually teaches you somthing that you don't want to hear. Damn kids...
