I already have a list and it's well made.  Sega Genesis was an awesome system and the 32x/CD attachments though not necessary had some great games for them, so naturally the fully assembled system is best.

Scratching Playstation, PS2 and 360 is ridiculous.  Those systems were the leaders of their respective generations (Though Wii sold more consoles, 360 sold more software/games and has a bigger library) and to say they don't belong on the list is just your way of saying you don't think the last three gaming generations have any merit to them.  Which, while you are welcome to your opinion, it is hardly universal or accurate to the gaming population at large.

I realize I am an unusual gamer in that I've been into them for over 30 years and still enjoy both old games and new.  But still, I think to imply that the PS, PS2 and 360 were not great systems is as close to being objectively wrong as anything.

The xbox360 has sold nowhere near what the Nintendo Wii has, and lags behind even in software sales, no matter what Microsoft  propaganda you read.

Games sold worldwide:

1. Wii - 791.34 Million
2. Xbox 360 - 640.38 Million
3. PlayStation 3 - 551.68 Million
4. Sega Saturn - 47.34 Million
5. Mega CD - 1.96 Million

I will grant, the argument could be made that either the Wii or 360 could be considered the most successful systems this generation. Which is why I included them both, and put Wii higher on the list.  I consider it similar to the 16 bit gen when both SNES and Genesis were highly successful but in different markets.  (Genesis sold better in North America/Europe, SNES sold better in japan though they both sold well everywhere)

>>4 If only nintendo had kept the Wii around for 12 years like the PS2 it would have wiped it ass in sales, no new games for the Wii for 2 years killed it, all the 3rd parties should be ashamed.

It's sad, when this generation of consoles was just comming out, Wii was the one that interested me the most.  Nintendo first party stuff isn't always my cup of tea though so I decided to wait till there was a little more robust library to pick one up.

But it just never happened.  There were a few interesting games, but the PS3 and 360 were getting tons of great stuff.  In the end I went with Microsoft which was pretty surprising considering that originally it had interested me the least.

I am hoping though that the WiiU develop into something I feel compelled to get.

You didn't say the list was in descending order you prick.

Playstation and GBA don't need to be there.

Well now you know, and knowing is half the battle.  Sorry if that upsets you for some reason.

Playstation 1 deserves to be there.  It was one of the most significant consoles ever released and marks the start of a massive shift in the video game industry.  At the start of the 32 bit era there were a number of companies trying to get a piece of what was now an extremely quickly growing market.  Fujitsu, Panasonic, Commodore and Atari all tried to bring out new consoles, none of which were successful.

Sony somehow succeeded and fantastically so, blowing both Sega and Nintendo out of the water that generation.  The PS1 sold almost three times more than the N64 and more than ten times as much as the Saturn.  On top of that it has a massive library of games which are still considered classics.  So yeah, I think PS1 has earned it's place on that list.  Personally I liked the Saturn better, but that's beside the point.

As for the GBA however, even though I think it was a pretty great system I am open to suggestions of what should get it's spot on the list, and why.  So if you have one, go for it.

>>10 Shovelware always goes to the console with massive mainstream market, look at the games that were on the PS1, 90% of all games on that system where Shovelware, you can't say that about the GBA or Saturn.

Maybe not the Saturn, but when's the last time you looked in a GBA bargain bin?  GBA had more shovelware than almost any other system ever has.
