Homebrew on the wii

Name: I guess I have brain problems 2012-01-28 22:27

I can't get any "apps" to show up in the homebrew channel.  I put off custom firmware etc. on the wii for years and now that I want to use it to try out games it refuses to work.  I have homebrew channel 1.0.8 IOS58 V24.32 installed.  And in the SD card I made a folder /apps which inside I put /"name of program" and then boot.dol file.  Understand that I for all intents and purposes am trying to follow instructions verbatim.  The only thing that shows itself in the Homebrew channel however are wad files.  What can I do?  I'm currently formatting the SD card under FAT file system with file allocation of 64 kb (before it was a FAT with 32).

Does anyone have any advice?

Don't look to me for advice.  I use a PC Rig.

This is a problem I had too.  I bought a used Wii around this time last year but couldn't hack it.  I used the letter bomb to install the homebrew channel but couldn't launch .dol files as apps out of the apps folder.  I even converted the .elf to .dol and named them boot.dol within the folder named after the program.  Does anyone on here have any experience hacking a Wii?  I ended up letting some family use it for netflix but would definitely ask for it back should I find out how to properly use it.

Don't change these.
