I got Minecraft (Alpha) yesterday. I played for a few hours. I made a castle, a dungeon, and a house. I realized that's pretty much what the entire game was. It's like Legos, but slower and you can kill stuff. If you're thinking about getting it, the free version is almost exactly the same. The weapons/enemies don't really add anything to the game. Don't waste 9.95 Euros on it.

To everyone saying people who dislike minecraft have no brain or imagination:
I for one liked mincraft for about 3 months. I dislike it because for one, its not hard to survive. It could be so much better than it is, better AI would be nice. Perhaps slightly better graphics.
I dislike it for the following reasons:
Sure, its open-ended. However due to the type of game it is, its very limited. You an explorer or a builder? Thats about all there is to minecraft.
Survival mode's goal is to survive....but survival is not a challenge, and when you do die thats not the end. When you die that should be the end, because you survived that long.
The Nether was only supposed to be a halloween event only, but is now part of the game. You can't even really do anything there.
The liquid physics used for water and lava leave much to be desired. Lava should not increase in volume by removing a block adjacent to it.

I remember this game. I went on the Curse forums posting really reasonable suggestions, some the most basic things which Notch has now already implemented or is planning on implementing, and I was told that I was a freak for NOT suggesting hot air baloons and other fantastic shit, and that the realistic things I was suggesting didn't even make sense to them. Apparently faggotry bordering on insanity is a requirement at those forums. It's like these people are building some sort of completely psychotic society over there, and it has really discouraged me from playing the game simply because I don't want to associate with crazy people, or turn into one of them. Endermen have now been thoroughly confirmed by Notch, and if Minecraft wasn't ruined already by now, imagine lots of mobs eroding the entire landscape over time, by removing random blocks and then dying without putting them back again. Notch implemented mob griefers for people who don't play on Peaceful Mode. How was this a good idea?

I do not see why people are arguing about why minecraft sucks or not.Everybody has there own ideas and opinions.Personally I think minecraft is a good game with some flaws (I let it slide because it is in beta). Now some people hate minecraft for legit reasons others do not.An example is Peaceful mode.It is a choice to turn it on and off.The game does not force you to play Peaceful mode.There are other diffculty's.Now before you call me a troll or a fag or gay or 12.I am 15 and engaged to another girl.I thank you for your time in reading my opinions about the hate on minecraft.

I don't think you thought this true. What would happen if ANY game had the option "Monsters/Enemies On/Off"? Let's say Halo had this option as a valid no-cheat option. Sure, it would attract actual players, but it would also attracts a LOT of neglected retards who are too stupid to play FPSs without turning the enemies off. Now imagine what would happen if you told them that this game was still in beta, and that they are welcome to post what they want in the game in the forums, and then you take half of these suggestions seriously and implement these as features into your game. You'd end up growing flowers and picking clothes in Halo.
