Here is the honest truth.
To become a PC Gamer requires a lot more effort than just becoming a normal console gamer.
You have to have a good enough rig to play the games, enough skills to not get fucking raped repeatedly and to not be so much of a fag you get booted from all the servers you join.
These traits of patience and cameradery are getting less and less common in a time period of SunnyD, rave music, clubbing, stabbings, teen pregnancy and underage drnking. Another factor affecting this is advertising which they are witnessed to. Xbox ads all the time, Cod4 being advertised as "out on Xbox" now. It is the desirable thing.
Another way in which PC gaming is preffered by many real gamers to consoles is the server system which many games implement.
Firstly, let me say that for these traits I have mentioed above, the person with the traits is usually more calm and down-to-earth and most importantly mature. To explain why these traits are apparent would take a long time. But it seems to be the way.
Therefore, with people like this playing online it allows servers to have standards in the people they let play. It's their server, why should they let some little Liverpudlian kid talk to shit to everyone who's playing.
To reiterate, in a decade of laziness the easiest and quickest options are preffered, that coupled with mass corporate advertising propels consoles to the top of the table.
PC with it's much more intense online play, better control system, better peer relationships and an all round funner experience gets shot down due to the overpowering destruction of the corporate machine
