My Life in Games Since Next Gen

I, like a lot of people bought an Xbox 360 came out because it was "the next gen" and the overwhelming hype of Halo 3. Well after the hype quickly died out and the hardcore fans and those spurred on by talk of MLG were all that stayed, players went to whatever other FPSs and games they could get their hands on and that was, for the most part, Call of Duty 4. Call of Duty 4 was one of the smartest games I knew for the longest time and gave a massive length of advancement with the prestige system (which I never took part of because I'm not into bragging rights).

Then I found out that a Playstation 3 has been out for a month. Me, being a fan of the Playstation 2, was VERY interested in that but for the longest time I could reason with my family to get one. My father said that Blu-Ray was worthless compared to HD and I couldn't find any great games for the PS3 except Folklore and Uncharted so I forgot about it and went on playing nothing but Call of Duty 4 and Gears of War, which put me in the Gears of War World Tournament and got me into Prague where I met CliffyB (or so he was called at the time).

Upon the hype of MGS4 my excitement in the PS3 rose again. It definitely looked more powerful and all the games on it I saw had better graphics and with the first price cut it was looking more appealing and when the tax return came in my dad finally bought me a PS3 for the retail price of $499.

After getting it I realized that unless I wanted to get the multiplatform CoD4 or W@W (which I wasn't into because it looked like more of the same) the only thriving multiplayer community was Resistance 1 and that game was terrible online so I spent a lot of my time playing a great deal of fun campaigns that genuinely I haven't had as much fun with since the PS2, especially Folklore which was like art to me, and spent my online time with my friends on the Xbox 360.

After the release of MGS4 things got very intense for me. MGS4s campaign was wondrous, the online was laggy in the wrong games but very well put together and the months that followed things got more exciting for me. Home came out in beta form, Resistance 2 came out, Motorstorm 2 came out (which is now my favourite racing game) and despite the problems I had with some of the games I liked the variety and over time my problems were fixed. Almost all of the lag is out of Metal Gear Online, Resistance 2's cooperative bugs were fixed, and more content was added to Home. I found myself playing my Xbox less and less, only when my friends on there wanted me to play with them and it would always end with them yelling at me when I mention the PS3 once.

Gears of War 2 ended up being a fun game if not only for the Horde. They seemed to had fixed the multiplayer so people would play as planned (use the lancer more, basically) but I did that anyway but so many changes happened that I ended up telling myself I liked the game more when the online was broken.

I would stick up for my PS3 when the topic of which online was better because after playing both I did like the PSN more but I did tell everyone that Xbox had a huge lead against the PS3 in terms of chatting, because the Xbox had private chat, which is the only advantage I could think that LIVE had. I care nothing of achievements after people trying to boot me out of a Gears of War game for having a 220 gamerscore and them whooping all of their asses by myself and I constantly was called a Xbox Fanboy on the PS3 and a PS3 faggot on the Xbox.

Now to 2009. Killzone 2 is out which has given me a great experience. One of the hardest campaigns I've done in any game on console or PC when difficulty turned to Elite and finally turned me off CoD4. Fallout 3 DLC is getting me back on track with my Xbox and my friends there along with the new Armored Core and I just finished the demo of inFamous, which looks like a must-buy for me... with Halo 3 ODST (which looks like it would have the scenes from Halo 3's Believe commercials which got me interested with Halo), Lost Planet 2, and Mass Effect 2 coming for the Xbox and MAG, the Final Fantasy 13 demo, God of War 3, and the upcoming inFamous and Fat Princess for the PS3 this looks to be a great year.

Okay I'm done. You can troll me now.
