Well this was the biggest disappointment since... ...ever.
When the guys at 3D Realms talked about finalizing the product for a release, I believed them. When they showed me screenshots of a bug list and talked about swift and steady progress, I believed them.
Why?
*Because I believed in the DUKE!*
I believed that people who could come up with such a mature, down-to-earth, no-bullshit, kick-ass action-"hero" character couldn't possibly be juvenile, lazy, procrastinating, two-faced losers with nothing but big dreams and delusions in their heads.
...but I should have seen the signs, one of them being that they set their goals up so high that they couldn't reach them, six times over, and another one being that they played freaking World of Warcraft - that if anything would have been a hint that they were sissies!
So how did they manage to come up with this character? They sure as hell didn't know him, understand him or believe in him as a character. ...so would you trust such clowns with a release of a game about him? I sure as hell wouldn't, because all it would have amounted to, would be a shallow parody that would have been a disgrace to the Dukes name, meaning that an actual release would have sucked even more than the lack of one.
That's why I'm glad - glad that these two-faced losers gave up on a project they obviously couldn't even understand or handle.
...and the Duke will live on without them, in our hearts and souls, his reputation as a character uncompromized.
...and mark my words: The Duke will return.
The Duke doesn't die. He's still out there, in our collective consciousness, and his essence will not be denied. Sooner or later he will find his way back into a video game, and you will recognize him, perhaps not by his haircut or his Take2 trademarked name, but you will still know him as the Duke, and he'll be far more kick-ass than 3D Realms could ever make him.
I'm STILL fucking pissed at this, perhaps because I read how poorly 3D Realms was being managed. If management wanted to screw around with the levels so much, why didn't they do proper concept art to begin with? Why didn't they at least check in once in a while?

You know what the best part is? Three years before DNF was announced, Captain Novolin was released, and this hero DID manage to save the world from aliens. This means that Captain Novolin was better at doing Duke Nukems job!!!
AAAAUUUGH!!! >_<

do you wonder if these guys still post on /v/?
what it they're among us right now
An old thread like this can't hide the fact that this game was ACTUALLY released! And it's bullshit too. A fucking Halo knockoff with too much tit referencing.
4ct-kotai (as idiot RedCream would begin each post) how would you like to take a punch to the gut? Sure it might give you pain but only to you it would feel REAL nice.
