SNES

SNES. Just got one.

All newish games are too easy. When I whip out my SNES, games are HARD. FUCK. I've gotten 4 game overs since 4:45.

Yea I feel the same way man. I mean on games nowdays I can easily beat the hardest difficulties, and only have a few deaths. For instance RE4 professional mode, gears of war insane mode, and even dante must die in devil mat cry. But ill be damned if I can beat link to the past, or yoshi island without dieing. The older mega mans are fairly difficult, but the only games these days that seem to have gotten harder are RPGs. Shit like last remnant, ff xii, and lost odyesee are much harder than chrono trigger, ff6, or tales of phantasia. If you don't mind me asking, where did you find a snes? I might get one at my local flee market, but I don't know.

I would think that with the effective death of arcades, gaming was forced to appeal to a larger and more casual market.  While getting good at games back then was something akin to hacky sack or pool, games these days are nothing more than simple time wasters.

If you like older games, why not give cave story a try.  If you don't, try cave story anyways.

Also, I read SNES as NES.  Most of those games were even more difficult and by large less rewarding.

I suck at games, so I really like EASY mode of new games. But yeah, the normal / hard / very hard / god modes do need to be toughened up.

Even something like Gran Turismo has changed.  The first one, especially the licence tests, were hard for me (rightly so, I suck at games).  Recent editions not so much.

Midnight club on xbox360 was patched to make it easier.  I, like 4, suck at gaems.  Even I could play the unpatched gaem, so people who needed the patch must have really sucked.

vidya's are more mainstream now. it follows that they would be easier.
