why is it that last few years when I see people playing consoles on tv shows it's almost always an xbox
playstation is the most succesful brand of consoles for the last 13 years, is microsoft bribing tv makers or something?

Well Microsoft has been known to pay out or bribe I'm sure that wasn't the only reason. Gaming in America is most widely symbolized in the Xbox 360 while many other countries (MANY other countries) associate the PS3 with gaming.
The Wii is usually seen as the casual console.
The Xbox is seen as the console people who are hooked on games with. (in america)
The PS3 is seen as the console the more popular have. Celebrities included. (in america)
