Okay, lets see what makes the Xbox more popular:
-Came out first (but sadly is being sued it's knowledge that the system was defected and was released early to get more sales giving it a 16%+ failure rate.
-Has Halo. A game placed in a generic FPS style but pushed the capabilities of it to the limit with fully accessible vehicles with tons of options you can do online. While the single play campaign is well-accepted to be lacking in story the multiplayer and create-a-level mode entitled Forge gives tons of options online to shape your own battlefield.
-Has Gears of War. A cover-based 3rd person shooter with a paintball-esque feel giving a great teamwork feeling with a dark, mature theme.
-Gears of War 2. A mixed review sequel to GoW1. Slightly tweaked gameplay with 3-4 new weapons and new online maps to play on along with new weapon-specific executions. Shading has been also improved.
-Fable 2. An RPG where you start as a child and depending on your actions you, yourself change along with how the world reacts around you with good-bad endings.
-Fallout 3 Exclusive DLC.
-The bare system is cheap (Of course I said The Bare System. Have fun buying all the crap involved in it including the pay-to-play online).
-It now has a bulkier (wide icons) version of the Playstation 3's XMB menu screen and a new version of the Wii's Miis to entice children.
-Halo 3 Recon. An expansion of Halo 3 with an all new campaign from the view of a ODST soldier that takes place parallel Halo 3's storyline and comes free with all of the Halo 3 map packs released so far.
-Halo Wars. A strategy game that serves as a prologue to the Halo universe. Looks to be very good for a strategy game.
-Cheap easy-to-find microphones. While the Microsoft default microphones are prone to breaking the console allows cell phone microphones to be used allowing talking gameplay to be a breeze.
Now lets see what the PS3 has going for it:
-Free online play (with no games containing a "special" pay-to-play price) but has a $400 price tag.
-Blu-ray software that gives great new options to gameplay and allows for dozens more memory capacity, though the technology is still being worked to be used to it's fullest potential.
-Built-in Blu-Ray player. Like watching things in Hi-Def? Enjoy Blu-Ray!
-A well built system with only a 2% failure rate. ^^; My friend overheated his PS3. It took 5 days to overheat.
-Slick XMB system with create-a-theme capabilities (to make up for the lack of avatars)
-Metal Gear Solid 4. A worthwhile experience both online and offline with the original stealth video game that began the genre. Includes the Metal Gear Online Starter Pack that is constantly being expanded and refined. It's movie-like style has given it mixed reviews for length of cutscenes but all gameplay has been given 10 out of 10s with enough customizations and options to get you to play any way you want.
-Resistance 2. 30 versus 30 with absolutely no lag and an 8-player campaign that parallels the single campaign and turns you against hundreds of enemies. (literally hundreds)
-Socom: Confrontation. The newest Socom game from the popular tactical shooter series.
-Warhawk. A somewhat childish cartoon version of a massive warzone with usable tanks, jeeps, jets, and massive fully-accessible levels with new expansion packs adding new levels and vehicles such as jet packs, APCs, and Dropships.
-LittleBigPlanet. A kid-friendly video game where you can create extremely detailed games with endless customization options. Popular/Ingenious creations today are a massive moving monster you can scale as it walks across a plain, a working calculator, a roller coaster, and a music machine that plains the FF7 theme song.
