Quake Wars Issues

I recently downloaded a demo of quake wars for my PC and the bloody thing won't let me aim straight.  I am stuck aiming at the bottom left cornor of the screen.... sure i can move my cursor but it goes back without a moments pause....  I am wondering if this is an issue with the game or my microsoft wireless laptop mouse.  Also if i hit the scroll button it will stop but then i can't switch weapons because i got a command menu up...... Any suggestions/ comments/ slander?

I keep my finger on the left button.

I'm actually right handed, but I use my left hand for the mouse.
