So what exactly constitutes shitty posting?  All I did was say that Mass Effect was shit (a valid opinion) and then got /v/anned.  WTF.

Mass Effect is a great game.

The game is too short.  The main story lasts a whole 4 missions.  I beat it in 5 hours.  KoToR's main quest took at least 10-20 without the sidequests.  I guess the age of 50-60 hour epics (a  al Baldurs Gate 2) is truly over.

It would help if the sidequests were interesting, but they're not.  The 'planets' you 'explore' are just small patches of uninteresting barren land.  Then you drive the Mako (which has the worst control scheme ever) to the point of interest and kill a few guys.  Repeat ad nauseum.

You don't have much choice in the game either.  You're stuck on one path the entire game.  Your only real choice is if you want to play one of the shades of good (lawful good, chaotic good or neutral good).

The graphics and game models are exceptional, but the constant framerate issues really take from the experience.  The sidequest planets are just randomized heightmaps with four choices of textures and weather.

The gameplay is the real downer here.  Your squad mates can't be directly controlled and end up being useless 99% of the time.  Its just an awful experience.

For the amount of hype the viral marketers generated, the game fails hard.
