I'm ashamed of you guys. No one has mentioned www.mythos.com. Read it's wikipedia entry and look for some vids on youtube. Goodluck getting into the beta though.
Also, if you have a crappy connection(I'm assuming 56K), you should pick-up a USB extension cable, build a cantenna and buy a usb wifi adapter that has an external removable antenna. Point it out the window and problem solved.
