Why do they do that when there DVD drives are common place? 1 DVD installs faster then 4-6 CDs, they weigh less too, and take up the same amount of material! Help me understand?

I didn't have a DVDrive until I bought a new, shitty emachine. Why would I buy a DVD drive when everything comes out on CDs anyway?
