Not just in RPGs. Castlevania went the way of animu, and while Megaman sort of began there, as graphical representations picked up, the game went from 8-bit awesome to MM8. And don't get me started on the Battle-Network/Star-Force "Power of Friendship" bullshit spinoffs.

1) No arcades means there would be no industry today, also guess what is pretty much dead even in Japan. Hmm, hey remember when great games would get ported to home consoles all the time? Gee I do so ever wonder what the fuck happened to that.
2) The LowestCcommonDenominator went from galaga and space invaders to shitheads who play some random god awful ps2 title. they're all terrible, just pick one and it'll work.

Yeah they're all fucking pachinko and prize machines now sparing what a tekken 3 machine and a galaga machine at most places, sure there are a bunch of places in japan that still have real games but its nothing compared to how it once was.
