I saw on the latenight news today the runescape was ending!
Jagex corp. the owner of the MMORGP, Runescape has today announced that they maybe shutting down the popular Runescape game. The reason for this was the numerous lawsuits pending against them by parents of obsessed children and players themselves which Jagex corp. has kept a secret very well with at least 3 multimillion dollar lawsuits and many smaller cases. Jagex corp. says it depends how much money from people joining in these last month depends on wether or wether not they will keep the game online which is what some people are calling a last ditch attempt for extra money to help them in there court cases. We tried to get a interview with the owners of Runescape but they were unable to comment.

I'm glad MMORPG companies have endings for their games. Too many of them go on forever. Let's hope the ending is memorable and contains a great story to wrap up the plot for all its fans.

Hi, I came across this while looking up jagex and lawsuits, a family member has a forum rsedge.org which is now the target of serious legal letters from jagex. they have asked him to shut the site down and hand over domain names and also sign a contract agreeing not to do anything they don't approve of and other nasty demands.
we have been taking legal advice and have discoverd that as a minor (under 18) he is not bound by the terms of a contract under uk law, so he is not bound by terms and conditions, they have chosen a one man band lawyer, not a big city firm that they could easily afford, they have threatened to take information to the police about content on his site. Again the advice that we have been given says that there are no cases having gone through the courts where anyone has been prosecuted for something so minor, it is not a crime to discuss runescape outside of the game and they seem to want to ban him from that now as part of the agreement. He has had a few donations which barely cover the cost of running the site and they also want that.
I had a call from the lawyer last friday who said we had to sign the agreement by next wednesday or else. Also my legal advice said that it is a well know trick by lawyers to call you late on friday so that your weekend is ruined by worring about their demands.
I am appalled at how Jagex operates and am considering suing them myself for the changes made to the game which seem to have destroyed it and wasted years of my sons time building something up. When I have enough unhappy members,which there seems to be, then I will launch the action. The costs will be very small if shared against a large group, no money will be asked for until the case starts. For now I just need players or parents who might be interested.
