I was never a fan of the genre growing up but recently I decided I wanted to give it another try, I'm curious to know if anyone here knows of some good ones they might of played. So far i'm lookin at the longest journey, syberia, and shadow of destiny. Outside of those 3 I really cant find anything on adventure games, at least rated above a 6. There HAS to be at least one good one out there somewhere(to fans of the genre I mean).

All the old school Sierra adventures (Police Quest, Space Quest, Kings Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, etc)
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
Monkey Island series
Grim Fandango
Loom
The Dig
Full Throttle
Beneath a Steel Sky

Basically anything by LucasArts and Sierra from the 80s and 90s. Modern adventure games are mostly complete shit.

You call it The Longest Journey.  I call it The Longest Install.  Fun game, though the technical side of things was a bit lacking.  I just liked how the point of the game wasn't exploring the sundry different possible ways to die.  Or finding out how easy it was to forget to pick up a widget from that pocket dimension that poofed out of existence after 5 commands, taking that single 6-sided nut, the only 6-sided nut in the entire world (apparently) with it, leaving the game impossible to beat.  Of course, you don't find out it's impossible to win until about 30 hours of frustrating puzzling later.  Because, after all, it only makes sense that a 6-sided nut is the only possible way to survive the big bad guy's crazy fire attack of doom.  and 8-sided nut just won't do.

Don't change these.
