The PS3 is a gimmick.

The entire thing has been built around the twin concepts of Blu-Ray and money-grabbing.

The same could be said of all gaming consoles...well partly. Basically what you're saying can be applied to all consoles with a little adjustment.

In other words, all consoles are gimmicks in some way, shape, or form.

In short, all consoles are a bit gimmicky. All games are a bit, except ones with massive long gameplay etc like Tetris, WoW, anything with replay (NB I don't play WoW).

Food for thought: swishing a controller around is new an innovative, fairly. It will retain its fun value.

Good graphics aregimmicky as in a couple of years, they will be obsolete and any games fun due to graphics will now be shit. Good games with poor graphics last longer.

I can't wait until photorealism is so easy for console games that programmers will start focusing on those little things that have been slipping, like controls, camera angles, storyline, music, character development, fun, playability, replayability, and originality.

Then maybe we can have good games without console gimmicks to try and sell them in the first place.
