Nintendo has done nothing for gaming

Name: Anonymous 2007-02-16 20:23

Everything they have done were just stolen from other companies and games

D-pad - Sega
revolutionized the platformer genre - Sony
Shoulder buttons - Microsoft
Analog - Sony
lock on system in Zelda - Microsoft did this first in the flight simulators
Rumble - Atari
Wireless - Sega Dreamcast had wireless controllers, and they made a wifi compatible thingy and its not broken like nintendos
Motion controls - PS3 controller patented first = they first

Just because they weren't the first doesn't mean they're bad. Also, just because other things were first doesn't mean they're good. Would you drive a Ford Model T around today just because it was the first ever production car? Nintendo has expanded upon other people's ideas and improved them drastically. You're just angry because you waste 599 US dollars on a PS3.

Try and tell me to my face that Gunpei Yokoi has done nothing for gaming.

"D-pad - Sega"
Famicom: 1983, Master System: 1985

"revolutionized the platformer genre - Sony"
Subjective at best, but I think a lot more people remember Mario 64 than some Banjo Kazooie shit.

"Shoulder buttons - Microsoft"
SNES: 1991, XBox: 2001

"Analog - Sony"
Nintendo 64 stock controller: 1996, Sony DualShock controller: 1997

"Wireless - Sega Dreamcast had wireless controllers, and they made a wifi compatible thingy and its not broken like nintendos"
Sorry, what? Wireless controllers have been around since the SNES at the very least - released by third parties, so neither Nintendo nor Sega gets credit for this innovation. Furthermore, please sauce your claim that Sega released a wireless controller for the DC. All I ever saw were third party wireless controllers.

Filed: May 7, 2006. After the functionality of the Wiimote was revealed. Furthermore, the Sixaxis does not have all the functionality of the Wiimote: The Sixaxis strictly relies on accelerometers, whereas the Wiimote uses accelerometers and the sensor bar, allowing it to more easily and more accurately be used as a pointing device.

TL;DR: GTFO Fanboy idiot

I knew OP was a troll when I replied, but if you let posts like this go unanswered you'll soon find people who aren't trolling and genuinely believe these claims to be true.

You do realize that n64 had analog BEFORE the playstation.
I not even gonna argue about motion control -_-

Name: Anonymous 2007-02-18 8:12

lol motion control existed before the ps3. ps3 patents for motion control are null

Name: Anonymous 2007-02-18 13:47

Lock on system in Zelda was a first for an adventure game.
