"Next Gen"

so has anyone pondered the fact that consoles are running out of places to go in terms of upgrading?  it seems to me they can only go so far with graphics and cg.  they've already just about honed in on making games look as close to real life as possible.  whats next, interactive holograms and 3Dimensional gameplay.  that technology isnt even here yet and when it is, im sure it will cost a pretty penny.

dont get me wrong, computers and technology are advancing along at an incredible pace these days.  but you cant make something look more real than real life.  so what then?
