Titled ( Blizzard Doesn't know a lot about making games anymore
In the past people have said WoW does not have as much a grind as other games. They have said the grind is "masked" by quests.
But are quests not a grind themselves? You grind mobs. You grind collecting "lewts". You are still grinding for experience.
The grind in WoW is as long, if not longer then most other mmos.
Here's the thing. If blizzard knew how to make a game, you wouldn't have to be grinding all the time just to get access to supposed "content".
Needless to say. All the content in WoW which you get access to once you reach a certain level, or once you get a certain item or piece of equipment or once you have enough in-game cash. All this content was already made available in older mmorpgs.
Because if blizzard knew how to make a game, they would allow players to do a lot of potentially fun things right from the start. They wouldn't have to rely on forcing players to grind in order to gain access to content that should automatically be available. They need some guaranteed way of your playtime in order to keep people playing because they don't know how to make a game.
Now hold on a minute. You're probably thinking. "This mans crazy, he doesn't want to work for anything!"
I have a little insight for you kiddo. Well you see, at one point mmorpgs didn't revolve around the entire point of the "game" being a character simulator. While you simulate your character by grinding random mobs and quests, and watch numbers increase. And grind raids just to get the same piece of armor with numbers increased. While the game plays itself for you in auto-combat.
A lot of the content of an mmorpg was made available right from the start. It let the players decide what to do and how they wanted to affect the game world and the history of the game.
Games like WoW, FFXI, L2 and 99% of other mmorpgs these days. They know their user-base won't complain if they don't know any better. It's like an internet service provider charging you 3x what you should be charged, for a service that is 15x weaker then it should be. Just because they can and they know you won't do anything about it.
Supporting WoW supports the stagnation of the MMORPG genre. And if you claim your reasons for playing are because there's nothing currently available that is "better". The reason why there's nothing better then WoW at the moment IS because you won't stop playing and supporting this game.
(tl:dr) Blizzard doesn't know how to make games because WoW has a grind. MMOs didn't always rely on grinding for "content". Blizzard knows they can sucker you into playing because you don't know any better. You play WoW because there's nothing better, but there won't be anything better until you stop supporting WoW.
