do people still make or play text adventures?

And I don't mean games like Nethack or other ASCII graphics.  I mean like the genre that Infocom's old games fell under.  I've been considering writing a game like this to brush up on my parser-writing skills but I don't want to spend 2 months on something and only see it get like 5 downloads after a year of being put online...
Do people still play these games?  Do any companies or hobbyists still produce them?

Someone in /v/ said they would make a mud for 4chan, I tried to tell him to make a thread here so either he isn't ready or he missed it.

Don't change these.
