For those of you who know the game Rome: Total War, you also probably know of its myriad glitches and crashes and problems and bugs and the thing coming out of the thing...and so on.
But I got the game from a torrent, installed it fine, and now whenever I get to around 270 B.C. as Julii, it gives me that generic XP crash window (RomeTW.exe has encountered an error and will be shut down, or something to that effect). I haven't patched it, and the torrent discussion thread consists almost entirely of
Post 22: Okay, just mount the first cd using DaemonTools. When the installation prompts you to put in the next cd, alt-tab out and replace the first image with the second. Do this for cd three as well. Next, get a nocd fix and copy the executable file into the Rome Total War folder. That should work.

And the one or two posts asking for help with my problem have gone completely ignored. So any help from my beloved 4chan would be greatly appreciated.
