jRPGs are not true RPGs. Nor are games like Diablo. Using RPG stats, a true RPG it does not make. In a REAL rpg, YOU define the character with your actions. You talk to people, you have discussions, you make friends and enemies, and you actually have some control over it.
Deus Ex was more of an RPG that jRPG's, ffs. I'm not saying that they aren't fun games, because they are. I've wasted hours and hours playing jRPG's... going around, killing monsters, collecting crap. But I don't consider them to be real roleplaying games. You're not roleplaying anything. You don't shape your character, they already have their own static personalities. (Although sometimes very little)
