People didn't trust Dreamcast because Sega ruined its reputation with its previous consoles. It also didn't have many big draws, with Sonic Adventure generally considered mediocre. It was mostly a collection of fun niche games.
Nice system at the time though, that thing actually plays Marvel Vs Capcom 2 better than PS2.

I still play Quake III online with my dreamcast to this day. I loved the shit out of that system.

Nothing happened to it. Its still under my TV. Works jsut fine.
Good graphics, but not enough to compete with the next gen. It would've been better if there had been more "OMG MST" games too, there really were none. Shenmue, Jet Set, SoulCalibur, and that was about it. PS2 also had the advantage that it had the PSX's library behind it, and by the time xbox came along, dreamcast (and sega) had died.
Another problem was that even though it supported net play, there were no very good online games or service.
Phantasy Star Online was pretty much it, and even PS2's FFXI beats that.
