King of Fighters

So I've been ignoring this series for ten years.  What did I miss?

whiny fags thinking they have something better then street fighter in a pathetic attempt to add some meaning to their lives which I imagine they find a lacking satisfaction of.

A bigger stable of characters doesn't mean the characters are necessarily better. KoF's stable is so huge that it's starting to get a little ridiculous. "Look, it's, uh, Hands Behind My Back Leg Kicking Guy! And Gay Looking Hispanic Ponytail Guy! And Girl Whose Father Wears A Phallic Tengu Mask!"

Guilty Gear's cast tends to have a quirkier edge to them, which I personally find more appealing. Not to mention BRIDGET WILL MAKE YOU GAY.

Came for the fighting; came several more times for the Saigado.

The series is going in a more Marvel vs Capcom direction with 2003 and XI.  XI is very good from what I've heard too.

Was thinking of buying all games in the series just to play them in order.  Not sure if it would be worth the pain to do so.

I hear 2002 and XI are supposed to be the best titles in the series. But I reccomend trying out all "years" before you decide to buy all of them.
But be sure to buy Kof 2002/2003. Both packaged and ready for the PS2. Neowave is pretty fun too and XI of course.
