I've been wondering about this for awhile, but why do people that "say what everyone is thinking" become renowned as comedic or satiric geniuses? Especially if it's obvious that, yes, everyone DOES think like that.

yes.  this culture actually is so wussy.  most stuff out there is dumbed down so much that it can barely offend (or interest) anyone.  the rest is derivitive crap that may have been funny twenty years ago when someone actually came up with it.  saying what everyone is thinking is thus at the top of the food chain for now, more due to rarity than actual quality.
