what do you think? personally i haven't lost faith in commerical companies to provide quality.

though i do think us gaming fans should show our favorite devs how it SHOUD be done.

maybe then the higher ups will get the picture and start injecting some creativity into thier work.

creativity isn't something that too many fans actually have! we're about as set in the ways of the industry as the typical designer is. what companies need to do is hire more people who are qualified, but don't have a particularly videogamey background. see keita takahashi and katamari damacy for an example of a new, good idea by a guy who doesn't really particularly care for videogames much.

truth. Gaming seems stagnant because everyone is creating exactly what they want to play, and taking 'inspiration' from previous titles. Either some new blood or some old-blood-that-has-been-away would be nice to bring in. Genre swapping could help too, like putting Richard Garriot on a shmup or story-driven FPS.
