Lack of good private servers.

Paying for initial software, updates and a monthly fee on top of that.

and the level cap is only being increased for the Burning Crusade.
if you're not a cheapass fucktard, the lack of private servers is irrelevant
the players are considerably better than most games (Counterstrike anyone?)

unbalanced classes just make life interesting
you don't need to grind all that much if you actually DO the quests.
if you're smart, you can get a trial copy for $2 and upgrade to a full account from there.

The cartoony graphics make for some great animations.

Exactly, I watch anime but don't want my character designs that are TRYING to look like something out of a comic book or someone's twisted dream after one too many tequilas.
The only reason I can ever see for an increase in level cap is for the players to grind more and think that it's fun.
