how the hell do you control ut2004 bots?!

Okay, I'm absolutely stumped- I've gone through all the prefs panels and disabled the voice recognition and such.  I still can't figure out how to get the old menu-style commands for commanding bots.  As such, I'm getting my ass kicked in most of the games I play with bots since my "teammates" are fucking around doing nothing.

Is there any way to get the good old "DEFEND THE BASE",  "ATTACK", "COVER ME", etc?

I dont believe so. You ned to key Bind those 3 things. The menu system in 2k3 2k4 is push v push 1 push 4 push 2 and you get what ever that combo gets you lol. So keybinding is now the way to go.
