subjects aren't long enough!
in any case, i think i found a prettymuch perfect analogy for the relation between a game and it's graphics.
game=candy
graphics=wrapper
a game needs graphics so you can see what's going on, a candy needs a wrapper to keep it clean and edible.
after that, most things you can say about a candy and it's wrapper fit perfectly.
1. a flashy wrapper may attract some buys, but if the cand tastes like crap people will catch on pretty quick.
2. if your wrapper is off-putting, it may keep some people away from a nice candy.
okay, here's something that's more of a stretch.
3. if you make a fudge candy that's wrapped in a daiper, you'll get fans who like the joke, but anyone else will be staying away.
this relates to how appealing to the lowest common denominator repels sales from ANYONE outside the demographic you're specifically targeting.
