Ripping Ps2 Music

I just got a dvd drive and decided i'd try my luck at ripping some music from the games i own. The main one i wanted the music from was Kinetica. So i accessed the disk and all the music files were convieniently placed in a folder, but they're in a ".VPK" format. Is there any way to encode as .mp3?

If not, i think i'll just try the other way which is ps2 + component cables + microphone jack.
