I think the Ipod is a better bet.  A DS comes down to the fact that it's a bit hard to cram into your pocket, you gotta carry around the extra games somehow, battery life is relatively shorter, and 30 gigs' worth of music is a LOT of music.  As for the DS... what games were you looking at?

Also, look into buying secondhand or refurb/used iPods off of Craigslist or something like that.  You'll save a ton.

Let me clarify: after using my DS fairly infrequently and having used 3/4ths my iPod's battery power every working day since January 3rd, 2005, my iPod can go for 8-9 hours before running out of juice.  My DS has never topped 7 hours, which I find amazing considering that Wi-Fi was enabled and searching on the DS during this time.

This is by no means a scientific test.  Feel free to conduct your own.  But it's what I've found so far.

I will say this, though: after finding out about Super Dodgeball Advance, I plan to make copious use of my DS.

It's crap, don't get it. It's nowhere near as fun as the NES version.

I like it.  It's gotten the same treatment as River City Ransom EX, which was fun for me, and my GF loves both so far.  It was only twelve bucks; a pretty good deal.

Get the DS and import a Play Yan Micro. You not only get to play your games but you get an MP3 and MP4 player for your DS, best of both worlds.

iPod, in the end you'll get much more use out of it, I have a 3rd generation iPod and I use it on a daily basis, but look for deals on ebay for a 4th generation iPod, the video on the current 5th generation is a little primitive, you only get about 2  hours of play-back with it.

i'd go with the ipod...wasn't a big fan of my ds..felt like wasted money...i like my psp more...(and my creative zen) but out of your choices..the ipod

Personally, I'm leery of HDD based products, or anything with moving parts for that matter.

For an MP3 player (and sure, it's a lot less, but it doesn't matter to me) was the DAH-1500i. Plus, I could thankfully set myself from those "non-conformist emo kids" who all look like clones.
But really, I opted for the Mobiblu because it was very interesting, flash-based (too small to be expanded - max is 2gb from factory), and I didn't have a whole lot of music to bother listening to... well, more like bother with. lazy ftw

Going on with that principle, and a strikingly similar incident in the past, I would have to opt for the DS (over ipod and PSP).

Clamshell ftw
Longer Charge
[No] Dead pixels

Only real problem I've had with it was the damn design. Starts bothering my wrists eventually.

Though Sony is doing much better than Sega's attempt in the past, it seems to be suffering from similar problems: price, battery, paying for accessories.

Oh well, enough of this. Hope you get a good idea.
