HDD Loader + PStwo = ???

Name: Anonymous 2005-12-09 3:24

So I'm getting a slim PStwo for christmas and was thinking of uh backing up my games to a USB HDD and running them off that.

Am I correct in understanding that all I need is a USB hard-drive and a purchased copy of USB eXtreme to accomplish this?

Maybe.

Yeah.

Since it uses USB, I don't see why this concept can't be extended a bit so your PC can serve game data to the PS2 application.

Hooking my PS2 with a shit PC and fat hard drive sounds good, then I don't have to worry about those shitty fucking disk errors.

Why hasn't this been done yet? And how are all the DVD calls redirected in the game software to whatever code talks to the HDD over USB?

NO! The USB loader is shit D= Use a real PS2 and network adapter.

The success rate for the USB loader is 1 in 10 games rounds abouts. The HD-loader for the expansion bay is pretty much perfect, very few incompatabilities really.

A real PS2 and network adapter? Care to develop on that?

I think he meant to say a real USB adapter and not the PS2-centric adapter. At least I hope he did 'cause I don't know any other way to interpret that.

I think he just means the old THICK PS2 and the network adaptor that was made to work with it.  The porblem there is finding one with a good lens.

Would there be a way to backup the games on the computer, hook it up with the PS2, and then play the games?

>>7 Yeah, sorry 'bout that. Use an old style one with network adapter, it yields better results, and for the cost of it compared to the equivilent slimline setup is better. Besides, everything is internal. Add a big USB HDD to a slimline and you've lost a lot of the cool slimness ;)

I use a Jap PS2 and a Jap HD Advance. Couple this with an 8000 yen, 200GB HDD and its all good to go. Instant loads and everything! You lose that with the USB ones too, as it has to go through the PS2s USB 1.1 ports (I'm almost positive they aren't 1.1) and then you INCREASE loading times with those kind of access rates!

The slim PS2 is made to look pretty, not for people who love their games. FACT.

Don't change these.
