Popping off disc tray cover on older PS2?

Name: Anonymous 2005-11-10 12:13

Hi.  I have a non-thin PS2 and there's a DMS3 mod chip inside.  It's sporadic... if I don't use the PS2 for an hour or so, it'll let me play my imports and backups just fine, but after I eject the disc and try another backup or import, it redscreens me.  It's always done this and I think the guy who installed it is a schmuck who can't solder properly.

What I want to do is get a torrent of Swap Magic and use the knife trick or get a slide card, but I can't find instructions on how to remove the front cover of the PS2 disc tray.  Anyone want to walk me through it or provide a link to instructions?

(Also, any advice on how to perform the fated "knife trick" would be appreciated)

You can't burn SwapMagic.  It won't work.

For a second, I thought the title said "Pooping off disc tray cover on older PS2?"... god, I'm horrible.

Crap.  Any ideas on a workaround to either make this stinking modded console actually BE modded or to circumvent copy protection?
