While cool, I think packing 4chan's essence into sprites for a typical FF RPG is troublesome. We have a great variety of 4chan art to draw from without needing to make new stuff - all of the photoshops could retain their original glory if the game were changed to accomodate them. The first thing that came to my head was a game like Radical Dreamers where most of the time static images are used to tell the story. Yet, this doesn't prevent the other idea from being used - and it's a lot easier to make. As someone else mentioned, once some finished product can be put out, it would be much easier to get others' interest.
