Super Robot Wars: PWNED by Uncle Sam?

Damnit, I'm really annoyed that not even ONE SRW game has officially been released in the States. Yes, I know, licensing issues, but if that's the only problem, why don't they just translate the Original Generation games? Are they afraid it "wouldn't sell"? I'm beginning to think the US is permanently screwed in the "strategy RPGs with giant robots" department.

I have a friend who is obsessed with these games. I've seen enough that I think I can give a reasonable answer to your question:

Most Americans are not interested in playing 2D* turn based games starring obscure japenese mechs... At least I'm not.

*I have nothing against 2D games. In fact, most of the games I play are 2D.
