d00000d. Love that game. Well, love(d)...it hasn't aged well for me, I've become too spoiled with 3-D FPS games...Single elevations don't cut it these days. The sound and graphics are still nice but it just isn't fun for me anymore.

I'm honestly fucken surprised anyone else has played this game. Doom came out the year before it (1993) and pretty much overshadowed this game. I don't know why I liked it more than Doom but I just did.

Everyone who says they like JRPGs and doesn't like Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter doesn't really like JRPGs.
But that's just me.

Probably Bio Motor Unitron for the Neo Geo Pocket Color. It's a breeder of sorts where you get to build equipment for your robot. It's actually pretty fun...and the game isn't all THAT hard. Getting max level isn't that hard either (Lvl 50).

DQ is so purposely un-JRPG, though. It feels more like Vagrant Story than anything, and even though that game IS a japanese RPG, it doesn't really feel like one.
There's an old isometric action/adventure game for the pc called D-Generation that fucking rocks.

Air Force Delta's even rarer. Has lots more variety in aircraft but some mindbendingly annoying missions....liiiike flying through a canyon filled with giant Wryyyyyyyyyyrollers running around.

I am in awe of the fact that with all the press coverage, NOBODY bought it.
I wanted to, but I've never even seen it available.

BEIK BEIK!!!!!!
love that sound. BEIK BEIK!!!!
Never did finish that, nor pseudo sequel Fire & Ice.

Failed because the dragons were one of the best reasons to play them. It just sounds so bland, having to be limited to maybe two or three battles you can go all out. I didn't even bother trying it. And that level-up-to-open-doors thing sounded really stupid and survival-horrorish.

That and playing Guitar Freaks 2nd Mix using the Dualshock inverted. That fucking owns.
And man: Grim Fandango. One of the best games EVAR. MANUEL CALAVERA, NEVAR FORGET.

It isn't that you're the only one that likes it, it's that nobody else has even HEARD of it.
Until now. I love how the Sky Captain taunts you.
If you've beaten Nuclear Strike, of the famed Strike series helicopter games, you would've seen an insanely small "advertisment" at the end for a "Future Strike" with a walking version of the Super Apache. That's what this was meant to be before they changed it for whoever knows why.
I liked the cut scenes, only a few joke around with a multi-million dollar walking cop like that. I still have the vs. mode music memorized into my brain from that one level that was on the PC version but not on the PS one...
mech loadout:
1. plasma gat
2. con. beam
3. motar
I cannot belive I still remember...
i can play bombastic for five to six hour intervals! get that game off the list!

Were there ever plans for a third, like the Star Control series, or is that it?

There is the game Protostar which is the unofficial sequel in the Starflight series. It's unofficial because they could not get the rights to use the name Starflight. You should check up on the-underdogs.org for old school happiness.

Beatmania & other music games.
I don't know anyone who's tried them for more than a few minutes before giving up entirely.
Also King of Fighters series, and Guilty Gear X... I know a couple guys who play 2D fighters, but all they know is Street Fighter and the various Capcom vs. games
Same applies to me. No one I know (besides me) plays this games.
I could list Gyakuten Saiban (Phoenix Wright), but since it has been released outside Japan and it's getting popular, I think it doesn't count anymore.

Lessee....
Abadox NES-Not a bad shooter, but does anyone remember the commercial with all the blood and guts?)
Daisenryaku-Boring, pretentious, hex based strategy
Evil Dead: Hail to the King
Jagged Alliance 2
Cho Aniki
Godzilla(This includes NES, Gameboy, and Duo CD)
Lethal Enforcers
Spec Ops series-Only the first three though, and I liked Covert Assault the best. Basically it is based on the old Spec Ops game for PC and was ported to PSX and you controlled two commandos and could outfit them with weapons and the enemies were INSANELY hard and could pick you out from ANYWHERE, but I stuck with it. Some of the missions were interesting(to me) and you really got a sense of accomplishment when you actually beat a mission. It played on the old Shooter rule of the 80s where it was SO FUCKING HARD that even if you DID actually beat it, you were all excited and crap.
Monster Party
Pesterminator: Western Exterminator-Possibly the only color dreams game that was good.

Second nomination for both Abadox and Jagged Alliance. I love how all the women hated Fox, the medic girl. LOLOL JEALOUSY. RAWR.
That Abadox game was like travelling through an organic Unicron.
How about Air Strike Patrol/Desert Fighters? SNES game, so if you missed it before, emulate it now. Essentially Ace Combat sans money on the SNES. And there's only two planes, but fuggedabout that it's pretty well done. Also the ending is funny as hell. SADDAM IS FROM OUTER SPACE!

>>67 Maybe I'm confused, but do you mean like Jungle Strike/Desert Strike? Cause those games were AWESOME. I used to like Air Wolf and therefore loved those isometric chopper games.
They hated Fox? I never noticed even though I used her all the time(then again she waaas just about the only female on the team besides Ira....) Heheh...Jagged Alliance still consumes many hours especially my custom merc. I won't disclose his name(cause he's on the FBIs Terrorist list) but basically he was a disaffected sociopath. He had knife skill and expert marksmanship. Always used the G41 or the Colt Commando, and kept an M870 for close encounters. Always teamed up with lynx because she could shoot AND be a medic. I used to use Dr. Donna Houston but had to fire her because she kept making stupid remarks like "I'm such a hypocrite" everytime she killed someone. Ivan Dolvich was also the bomb...
Amplitude. Especially since you can download remixes online and even create your own. I bought that game like 3 years ago and still play with frequency (no pun intended) Talk about replay value this game has it by the fuckfull.

Startopia. Speaking of which, does anyone still have that game? I lost the installation files thanks to my older brother, and am a bit worried about using HotU, as no games ever seem to work for me when I get them from there :|
Phantom Brave is unusual, but fun! I'm playing through it my first time now, and there's a lot of depth to character development that just doesn't seem to be there on the surface. It's almost overwhelming.
Disgaea is fun too. I've started it, but I started Phantom Brave first, so I want to finish PB before really getting into Disgaea. I also have the new Fire Emblem cube game to finish. Hrm.

Not true, me too!
Evil Zone/Eretzvaju too. Ihadurca's sizzlin'.
Gudis and Setsuna are my favs from Psychic Force. They need to make more characters for that though, and some random enemies. You don't really get the feeling they're two "armies."
More like a pair of super-powered high school gangs.

I have yet to meet someone else in person who has ever played planescape torment.
PS is a masterpeice of a game, the most amazing dialouge I have ever had the opportunity to read. I play through it every year just to remember how great it is.
I introduced one person to it, who enjoyed baldurs gate II. He didnt even play past the mortuary...
It is just sad, that we have come to a point where games no longer have truly compelling stories....
God, the unbroken circle of zerithamon....
I just want to have an actual conversation about it irl with someone, no other game has made me think of mortality and what death truly is in the sense of PS.
I know it sounds completely retarded. There is just so much dialouge, your party members actually improve by just conversing with them.
I really need to replay it again...
I wish I could forget everything about the game and play through it a virgin again

Yeah, awesome game. I just wish Black Isle/Troika/Obsidian would apply their RPG making skills to an MMORPG, just to see what would happen.
I'm with you. Hot pursuit 2 is fun. Unfortunately, all the friends I play NFS with prefer the undergrounds/most wanted. Hot Pursuit 2 doesn't provide the same illusion of speed, but the races themselves are just a smoother experience.

Dark Cloud. I enjoyed the game and especially the music. I think it's one of the few games I can go in, play for a few hours, put down for a few months, come back, and not have to worry about forgetting the story or where I left off. My only problem is it takes way too damn long to finish that first dungeon because you have to spend so much time working on your sword in the beginning.
