That's a link to CNN about the Xbox 360.
Highlights are that it will come in two versions. The $300 one will just be the console with corded controllers. The $400 version will have wireless controllers, 20GB HD and a headset. You also need to have the HD to play games from the first xbox. The games will be $60.

Remember how much the X-box was when it first came out, plus the accessories that were usually at least $20?

Tsk. Just wait for that shit to be priced down.
I don't understand why so many people don't see it's not a good idea to buy "Next Gen" on the releasedate.
1. It costs a bundle
2. There's only a limited amount of games
EASY TO GO ON XBOX LIVE AND PRACTISE ON THE NEWER GAMES THEN WHEN NEWBIES GO ON, THEY CAN BRAG ABOUT HOW BIG THEIR E-PENIS IS BECAUSE THEY R TEH BEST AT HALO 15

UK isn't getting it too badly, £280 for the 360 plus HD and all the extra crap.

Damn, now i'm gonna have to get it when the price drops from when, a year after launch?
Also, wouldn't this just give Sony an excuss to price their PS3 over $400 too?

Why can't the console makers just solve the issue with HDs by allowing people to use standard HDs instead of trying to milk consumers by forcing them to use Sony's/M$ properiety HD for their respective systems.
Its just really stupid from a consumers POV though probably smart from the manufacturers.
It is that reason alone that M$ has had to pur 2 price bands. Man and here I was hoping for HD consoles to be a standard thing.

OR..just include old 5400 2gig or 6gig Harddrives to there consoles then allow the customer to upgrade later. These small drives would be VERY cheap to make.

would the hi-def. AV cable that comes with the $400 360 pack work on a standard TV?
that's all i have at the moment (and for a fair old time, what with the UK's lack of Hi-Def TVs)

No, HD cables have to be plugged into an appropriate socket on an HD-ready TV, duh. And you can buy HD-ready TVs in the UK already (there just aren't any HD broadcasts yet). But the packs come with standard SCART/S-video cables as well.

I thought HD-AV cables were backwardly compatible. as long as it comes with a SCART cable, that's all that matters.
my wording was off on the HD-TVs, i meant lack of cheap HDs, heh.

I don't understand why they feel the need to have two different controllers one wireless and one corded? I have to buy the hard drive to play the old xbox games. Fuck you MS. I thought sony like to nickle and dime you but microsoft learned real quick from sony.

I think for the first time in a very long time, I'm not going to buy any launch consoles. It's just not worth it at any standpoint anymore. Was going to buy a 360 first day, even though the 400$ price point is not bad at all for the components in it, the console will be limited with a lack of an HD, thus more shitty games and bad ports.
Nintendo is the real winner here, the Revolution launches with Zelda not far off, it's going to rape all. I never thought I'd see the day where I would say that. Good job Sony and MS, with all this pricing bickering, cut downs on quality hardware, and basically saying "you'll be gouged no matter what," you lost customers.

lol nintendo did that back in SNES days, which is half the reason their transition to N64 was total fail.

3DO had the best multiplayer idea ever. LOL Endless Linking. Now if only their games supported more than like 4 people.
