Video Game: the series

I've stayed away from most games that have endless sequels.   Since most people have played the older games, they're a lot cheaper in stores.  Would it be worth it to play through an entire series of single player games, from oldest to latest?  For example:

-Medal of Honor
-Call of Duty
-Armored Core
-Tenchu
-Kessen
-Dynasty Warriors
-Romance of the Three Kingdoms
-Resident Evil
-Silent Hill
-Age of Empires and assorted knockoffs containing the word "Age"
-Tom Clancy
-Various PS2 mascots (Ratchet & Clank, Jak, etc)

I was also thinking of going through every King of Fighters just for the hell of it.

Dynasty Warriors would not be worth it in the least. They're all the same core game. Just pick up DW2, or DW3, or DW4, or DW5. The problems each title has is different, but they all equal out more or less.

Silent Hill and Resident Evil would be worthwhile, but with a few bumps. SH3 was a downer, and if you're including EVERY title then the GBC SH will destroy you. Resident Evil, too, is still playable, even back to the very first one, but there are some gaps in the series you should jump for your own safty (Survivor 1 and 2, Outbreak, and, again, the GBC game).

I'm not that knowledgeable on current mascots, but Crash is one series you should not attempt. Crash 1 was only purchased because the alternative was Bubsy 3D, Crash 2, 3, and CTR were awesome, and then the series nose-dived.

Ratchet and Clank one is great
Ratchet and Clank 2 is fucking awesome
Jak and Daxter rules various types of ass
Jak 2 - jak theft auto. Sucks various types of ass

That's a bit of a misnomer. Jak 2 is a sadistically difficult platformer with a massive hub world because the devs finished the game three months ahead of schedule and they couldn't spend ALL that extra time jerking off.

The first Tenchu is the only game you need from that series.

Armored Core suffers from the same problem as the DW series, only it isn't as boring. Best way would probably buy the ORIGINAL 1, 2, and 3, then figure out which of these you enjoyed the most and grab its "extensions."
They're all good, overall, it's just a matter of how much you want to spend on it. And one thing that's really annoying is sometimes inventive concept weapons which are really cool get dropped in the next series. (AC1: Master of Arena has the Finger machinegun, really damaging weapon that fires MG bullets from your fingertips. 500 or so bullets, but you use 5 at a time. To my knowledge it hasn't reappeared since. A shame, it really fucks the shit out of the other mechas. No I'm not going to do a fingerbang joke.)

Finger Gun with two ammo packs wastes Phantasma in seconds. It's like some Crissaegrim with bullets the size of fire hydrants.

I tried the first RM3K on NES, but take too many turns so the battle ends prematurely.

I love how to didn't include "Final" Fantasy

OK, what about Mario then?  Is that a sequel series?  It's about the same plumber jumping around pipes and turtles every single game.  Metroid?  Bomberman?  Kirby?

The Finger Machine gun was brought back in Armored core: Nexus with nerfed damage, even LESS ammo (250), and the games annoying as hell reload system.

Don't change these.
