Who here plays Anarchy Online. I started playing it with by playing it for free then i got hooked and I got a paid plan and the expansion packs. Its an awesome game, especially if your tired off all the fantasy.

I played AO for about a week and got tired of the crappy UI and controls. the game play was too repetitive to be fun and the gfx weren't all that amazing. Lineage2 & Guild Wars are my play.

Think about it, I'm sure there must be a FEW elven females of one tribe or another that are sick of how boring and flighty their males are. What would be better than a short and perpetually angry Scotsman or Viking with a knack for machinery? Dwarf females are supposed to have the same kind of beards the males do y'know. Sooo...I'm pretty sure if I were a dwarf who I'd be seeing. Now that they're interacting with others they should have a lot more taller dwarves, unless they simply started marrying before the beards grow in to avoid temptation.

The problem is that you need literate and skilled players, and they all left the scene years ago. Currently available games just aren't suited for this sort of thing.

You can't RP in most of these games because everything is laid out for you in graphics and sound. The zone is your DM describing the landscape. And any imagination you might have such as "I climb the wall and use a grappling hook" is denied by the DM, or in this case, the limited engine. The only cure is an engine that allows tons of "everything you can think of" moves while actually working properly. This includes an interface that lets you interact with everything, and use all available senses, just like an old adventure game.

...is a whole lot easier than using a modeller to create the mesh for a hook, then using PS to make its texture map.

We're gonna need some majorly fast connections and fire&forget 3D editing software to see something like that. I think the free play thing is actually making them more money. AO tends to attract a more 'Hardcore' mmo crowd. All of the best items/equipment you cant even use unless you pay. Ive seen so many people go and subscribe because they feel gimp compared to people around them who are doing more damage because of there gear. Its peer pressure, and its working.
