you start out as a neutral destroyer
as you level up you can bet better guns and ships and torpedos

things you need to know:
when you hit level 12 you can choose the nation you would like to go
do not choose your nation until you have at least 5 people at level 12
since neutrals cant shoot nation guns and vice versa
at level 20 you can post up a review of the game on download.com and get 100k credits in game (look up on thier site for more info)
+15 potential and +12 all other stats when you first roll for new sailors are Rares (so if you get them KEEP THEM) there are no +16 potentials or +13s until you convert them to specific countries
having about a +11 is good to start out with for sailors
for a bridge officer having a +14 potential is good
the tutorial will explain more when you first enter the game (forced tutorial)
bridge officers main stat is potential (higher means increased results from other offficers and longer shot guide lines and further in fog of war sight)
gunners main stat are accuracy + reload (you can specify to be either accuracy gunner or reload gunner when they hit the right level and further increase thier stats)
torpedo men use the torpedo stats
support sailors use the engine + restore + repair stats (engine makes engine recover faster and go faster and more overdrive... Restore i think repairs armor or restores the original condition of the ship faster maybe... repair is your HP recovery aka hull repair)
special forces use fighter + airplane + bomber stats
there are medics (prevents loss of crew) and accountants (gets you more money) and drill trainers (gets you more exp) and others which have not been implemented yet but they use the potential stat
decide early on which race you want to become
(country - excels at)
usa - anti air + airplanes
britian - armor and repair
germany - guns
japan - torpedos
then decide which route...

There are things you should notice when you get in
certain ships are torpedo whores... mainly japanese
look for thier hull design on train world so you can avoid them or become them...
pressing TAB gets you ready for a game
you can control you guns manually (difficult for beginners but helps out if you know how to)
or choose auto (press location and turrets will auto rotate and fire... sometimes turrets gets stuck)
to choose this look for the FCS Auto for auto like targeting
for FCS aim and Find... dont know what does what but i always choose aim for the longer sight radius
Press CTRL for faster turret turning (turret drive acceleration aka TDA)
the lower right green light will turn on when it is on
to choose teams in game click on the word alpha or bravo on the top
Harbls of the game
sometimes YOU LAG and others dont
CRASHES OFTEN (depending on VRAM if it crashes while loading... you need to allocate more... its on thier forums)
SUNKEN bug... when you get your ship sunk... it stays that way... you need to retart navy field
room crash bug... when too many players like maybe a 128 2 team "All welcome" or "big battle" is in place... it will crash some people and make others lag
FRIENDLY FIRE - DONT BLOCK PEOPLE!!! the ships over lap and firing will cause damage to other people but not you and vice versa but then you can use this to cover enemy ships and fire so in short there is no ramming ships... WATCH OUT FOR TORPEDOS FROM BOTH SIDES!!! you are bound to meet torpedo whores so watch out for friendly torpedos and enemy ones... you cna generally out run them as a frigate going at like 60 knts but if you cant then you can either:
take 1 of the hits if you are far enough...
run in between them and have them pass
let them run past you while you are in middle at full stop
or if they fired it very close to you... RUN IN TO THEM!!! they have an arming range of about appx 1-1.5 lengths of a destroyer
DONT BAN A MOD!!! you can see mods with thie NF shied next to thier ship name... oh and its considered cheating in that game
slow gains sometimes... to gain exp you have to deal damage... to deal damage sometimes you have to get close... which gets you killed so until you have a style of playing that works... learn to shoot from the edge of what you can deal and not get hit (gunner type focus)
TRADING - you need 50k credits AND 50k points

if you need cash early on what you do is create bullshit accounts and have them hack then report them and you get 100k
in big battles usually some people get desynched...
which you will notice if for some reason enemies stop firing at you mid battle... and run away even though they are winning... at this point you should test if its actually true... if it is then you can run up to any ship and unload EVERYTHING and they wont notice you because they think youre dead and you can gain tons of money and exp... it happens rarely
when you get to level 20 and you do that review thing for navyfield and you get 100k... you can start a new account and get a frig and transfer some level 20s over and do it again to get another 100k (personally havent tested)

i just want more 4chan people in here
its so annoying to hear like 12 year olds who think theyre the master at WW2 talk about how imbalanced the game is and not historically accurate
i'd rather here more of "I'd Hit it... WITH ALL MY TORPEDOS"
or some thing to that affect...
try to find me in game... usually if someone even remotly hints at a 4chan meme... i'll start screaming out
