Name: GearheadX 2005-05-26 9:27 (sage)

Nope.  Might I suggest developing a taste for RTS and RPG games?

Name: Anonymous 2005-05-27 9:52

What's a good RTS that's recent?

No rpg, please.

Command & Conquer: Tiberian Twilight
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3
Command & Conquer: Renegade 2
Halo: RTS edition

If you're into FPS, Farcry - way better than Doom 3 (yes, better graphics too you bitches), nevermind all the hype.

ME WANTS RPG

The Total War series are great tactical action games. Look for

Shogun Total War
Rome Total War
Medieval Total War

So does me

We should get a console for that, though.

Name: Anonymous 2005-06-02 6:13

yeah get a console, so you can play the millionth rehash of final fantasy with angsty cardboard characters <sarcasm>but each time in a completely different way!!!</sarcasm>

Name: Anonymous 2005-06-02 12:44

Sarcasm?  Where?

SHUT UP I HATE YOU

JUST LEAVE ME ALONE EVERYBODY

Anyway, everything is a rehash of everything. It's because diversity simply doesn't sell. See also the PC market.

Name: Anonymous 2005-06-03 3:43

Lol >>9 , so what do we have on PCs? All kinds of Quake clones, Quake clones, Quake clones, Quake clones, and some more Quake clones. BORING

Name: Anonymous 2005-06-03 7:10

I'm not denying that there's too many rehashes on PCs (although there are some really good games for it (morrowind etc)), I'm just saying that console rpgs are boring, bland, unoriginal and as shallow as a 10 year old's spit

seconded
i hate quake clones.

pc needs more japanese games.
damn those americans and their quake clones.

Name: Anonymous 2005-06-03 20:37

>>13
Lawl, you of course only heard of Final Fantasy.

>>14
Seconded. Amerika likes FPS because they're seeing a gun all the time. The rest of the world seem to enjoy other types of games too.

Name: Anonymous 2005-06-04 16:29

oh yeh, i hate gangsta games too (see: gta)

lol amerika

Name: Che !dYJ4IY8.nA 2005-06-04 23:58

Hmm, black & white, axis vs allies, civ series, doom series, morrowind, quake series, cs:s, cs 1.6, americas army, i could go on forever ill stop here...

Pc needs more sneaking games other than the theif series and morrowind, ( i always play custom-theif/assassin/ranger in morrowind )

IMO only good final fantasy game was tactics...

Sneaking in Morrowind bothers me, because it's all stat-based. Once I had my stat high enough, I was sitting around in plain view of people who just didn't notice me. No actual sneaking gets done. You just have a way higher number than the other guy does.

SimCity 4, WarCraft III, Diablo II, NoX (ownage! ^_^) etc. etc. etc.

>pc needs more japanese games.
So that finally the common gamer can experience the joy of the creepy saccharine hentai graphical adventure.  Awesome.

Actually that genre was BORN on the PC. There's no shortage of Japanese PC games like the people on this thread seem to think: they just never left Japan.

Welcome to DnD rules.

Name: Anonymous 2005-06-13 18:58

Ah yes P&P RPGs, the purest of the pure. Last time I played I was a crappy DM and the only magical item the party found was a lizard man's penis.

Name: Anonymous 2005-06-15 14:42

morrowind isn't d&d

>>18
then just play the game without looking at stats, then you won't feel the need to jam CTRL for hours while you do something else just to bump up your skill or to buy the stats from a trainer. you can't really get sneak to 100 by simply playing the same, i played a thief and got to 78 by the end

I didn't abuse the stat system, even when I figured out the means with which one does so. I'd just like to see a more natural mechanic. But then I wouldn't be asking for an RPG, right?

GAME DESIGN CHALLENGE: THE STATS-LESS RPG

does it exist?!?!

Name: Anonymous 2005-06-16 4:26

>>25
A statless computer RPG would just be an RPG that hides the stats from you. All computer games have stats, even if it's limited to position/hp. This is because computers really only understand numbers (oversimplification). It would be either that, or the computer just randomly decides the outcome of events. That doesn't sound fun.

Actually, it sounds like Bokosuka Wars. *rimshot*

I'm always down with Bokosuka Wars.
