Neo Geo emulator problems

Name: Anonymous 2005-04-14 13:24

For some reason, I can't get any of the Neo Geo emulators to locate any of the roms I downloaded. I've tried using NeoRageX, Nebula, and Kawaka's emus but none of them locate the roms. And yes, I put the roms in the Roms folder~

try MAME

tried it. works good. Only problem is that certain games are kinda slow (Marvel vs. Street Fighter, Street Fighter Alfa 3, etc.). Any way I can makes games like this run faster, or at least at thier original speed, without upgrade my computers processor?

...

MvSF and SFA3 are not Neo Geo games. Please tell me you weren't trying to get them to work on a Neo Geo emulator.

Anyway, all newer arcade systems are slow when emulated, simply because MAME is emulating faster hardware that shifts more data around and does more processing than older games. You can change the frame skipping in MAME to get it running faster, but at the expense of a reduced frame rate, resulting in choppier animation. Sometimes you can get better results by using a dedicated emulator for that particular system over MAME's all-in-one convenience (in the case of MvSF and SFA3, they are CPS2 (Capcom Play System 2) games - I haven't investigated dedicated CPS emulators so I can't say how they compare with MAME's CPS support, but it's worth a try).

Thanks, I'll try that

alright, newish problem: I downloaded MAME32k. v 064. I noticed that on this version of MAME alot of the games run pretty fast, too fast in fact. This screws with my timing when I play online as well as when I'm just playing against the machine in regular mode. Is their any way I can adjust the overall speed?

You need the Neo Geo BIOS which is neogeo.zip

Strangly, my NG roms work on Winkawaks and Nebula but not NeoRageX. o_O

NeoRageX is known for being weird like that.
