Does Japan care for US imports?

Japan seems to get random movies and games exported from the US- I've seen the entire Tomb Raider series, Rebel Assault II, and Wing Commander IV.  Are there any games that Japan is actually dissapointed in not getting?  Like the GTA series, or Madden?  I know it's very America-centric, but there seem to be plenty of fans of US cutlure.  What do they get now mostly?  There are plenty of US made computer RPGs, for example.  Is Japan getting any of those, or are theey ignored?  A lot of older US RPG series were extremely popular in the past (Ultima, Wizardry).

Capcom published the GTA series in Japan, some time after their US releases. I don't think they have San Andreas yet, though. Madden,  though; there can't be a big enough market for EA to want to bother.

Japan actually got most of the GTA series - I don't think San Andreas is out there, but Capcom will probably pick it up.

Wizardry seems to be popular as hell in Japan, though, even now - there have been several Japan-only Wizardry games, including a shitload for the PS2.

This is sort of a biased comment, but I don't think anyone but America cares about football. ;P (except their game called football. y'know, soccer.)

I could be wrong, but whatever.

There are foreign American football leagues (Japan, Germany, England, I know about), but either way the game has as much hold on the world as Australian Rules Football or cricket does in the US.
